Lake Tahoe Marathon Information
Sept. 26-28, 2008 Run three different marathons in 3 days in two states. This is a one of a kind event circumnavigating the entire shoreline of Lake Tahoe over 3 days. Including dinner and speakers on the Thursday night before the first run. The 3rd Marathon is run with the regular Lake Tahoe Marathon on Sunday.
You may up the ante by choosing the Super Triple option which is the first 2 marathons on Thursday and Friday, but instead of the 3rd marathon run, the 72 mile Ultra starting at mid-night later on that Friday night. 12:01 A.M. Saturday to be exact.
Start times will be: 7:00 am on Friday; 7:45 am on Saturday, and 8:30 am on Sunday Johan Oosthuizen from South Africa did break the Guiness World Record for 3 consecutive Marathons here at Lake Tahoe. The old record was set April 16-18, 1988 at Belfast (2:45:55), London (2:48:45), and Boston (2:47:51) with a combined time of 8:22:31. The new Tahoe Triple and World record is 8:11:08
The 72 Mile Ultra has been run for years and put on by many other organizations. We will start the latest Tahoe 72 Ultra at mid-night with the runners arriving at the start line about the time of the start of the Marathon. That would be after 44 miles and hopefully after 8.5 hours for many of them.
Transportation: You will be transported from the Horizon Casino Resort each morning to that day's start line, which will be near where you finished the day before. Your support team will be needed for the ride home. Your crew will be responsible for getting you back to your hotel. If you come alone with out support you will need to buy a few beers the night before and arrange a ride after the race for Thursday and Friday. Saturday take the regular Marathon transportation from the Horizon Casino Hotel before and after your run.
